My husband and I have eaten here before and had a fantastic experience. However, we decided to go recently for our anniversary. My husband ordered his steak and it was slightly overcooked and our server was checking her phone while at our table. My husband did not want to wait for another steak so when asked how everything was we said it was fine because , overall, we were enjoying our meal. I received our emailed receipt later and I did comment on my husband's steak and the server checking her phone so they would be aware. This was not on a public platform and I certainly was not asking for a refund or free food. I was quite taken aback by the snarky reply I received from the restaurant. This is what I received: "Thank you for your comment. As far as your steak being overcooked, we apologize. Its a very fine line between medium well and well done, and unfortunately we cannot see inside the steak. We would have been happy replace it or cook another had you informed us of our mistake. I have spoken with the server and she tells me she asked you more than once how everything was. If you say fine, there is nothing I can do. As far as her being on her phone, she is communicating with the employees upstairs. Thank you for your concern. Again we apologize that you were disappointed." I was offering comment for the next time we went, however, I am afraid there will not be a next time after this reply.
The fried chicken is excellent. Maybe the best we've ever had. A generous portion for the quality and price. We appreciate sourcing of pastured poultry and raise our own chickens that way. Loved the peas served alongside. My daughter's exact words were, "I want to eat this every night!" Crab beignets were good, fried green tomatoes were fine but not our favorite. Duck pho show was good, a bit spicy and not a traditional pho style if that is what you're looking for. We're happy we stopped there and will come back again if in the area.
Great food. Excellent service. This was my 1st visit to the Local Kitchen and I will be back.
This is a gem in town, especially with the lack of great local restaurants. The chef is incredibly talented, and you can taste the fresh ingredients they use. The upstairs space needs some updating, but I still love the vibe of the restaurant and the balcony. The bar is a little limited, but they serve the basics and have great craft beers. The owners are so thoughtful and a gift to the community.
Wonderful food, amazing people. There isn't much more you could ask for. The duck pad thai is an extremely complex dish, where all the ingredients stand out but compliment each other in the best way possible. The steak was most likely the single best piece of beef I've ever tasted. Very tender, while still keeping good texture. The seasoning was very good while still allowing the quality of the meat to shine through. You will not regret eating here!!!
